to MJ
Alas that the days could be reversed
But time wears on so mercilessly.
His phantom image now only a memory,
But upon his face my mind remains immersed.
My heart empties like a rushing tide,
Crying for the love that I have lost.
His disappearance such an unbearable cost.
From that haunting presence I long to hide.
His eyes, gems, I see as though before me
And yet so distant they remain.
My own mistake on our love a stain
That forever a painful regret will be.
Sweeter than the lilac’s aroma on the breeze of spring
His voice was in my ear.
But no longer is he near
And never again will his name my heart sing.
